ETQ Announces 2021 Innovation Excellence Award Finalists

Corning, Johnson & Johnson and Syngenta Recognized for Innovative Use of ETQ Reliance to

Boost Quality and Unlock Business Value

BURLINGTON, Mass., April 8, 2021ETQ, the leading quality management system (QMS) provider, today announced the 2021 finalists for its annual ETQ Innovation Excellence Awards. The awards program celebrates customer creativity and ingenuity in implementing ETQ RelianceTM in unique, creative and unprecedented ways to address challenges in quality, health and safety and unlock significant business value to the organization.

Finalists include Corning, one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science; Johnson & Johnson, the world’s largest healthcare company; and Syngenta, a world-leading agriculture firm that helps to improve global food security.

The finalists presented their award applications during ETQ Quality Vision 2021, the company’s annual customer conference, taking place virtually April 6-9, 2021. The theme for this year’s conference is “Looking Forward” as the company and its customers anticipate the future of quality and quality management, overcoming new challenges and seizing new opportunities.

The finalists for this year’s awards all demonstrated significant achievement in the award criteria, including:

  • Very high relevance to ETQ’s core quality and safety markets
  • Measurable and meaningful return on investment (ROI)
  • Demonstrated expertise in maximizing Reliance’s configurability and integration capabilities

Corning – Document Control

One of the most requested ETQ Reliance applications and one that Corning initially implemented is Document Control. Corning’s goal was to reduce the amount of time it takes to implement and maintain Document Control through process automation and dynamic Reliance configurations, especially when importing documents with rich associated logic approval controls from legacy applications. By streamlining Document Control, Corning has greatly reduced the time it takes to get up-and-running on the QMS, reduced implementation timelines, increased productivity and reduced costs.

Johnson & Johnson – Complaint Management

Johnson & Johnson leveraged ETQ Reliance to consolidate and standardize its Complaint Management System across key divisions. ETQ Reliance provided a common application for complaint processing, providing consistency and efficiency in the complaint data collected. In addition, standardizing on a single platform helped the company achieve annual savings of $1.45 million and enabled it to ensure data integrity and high quality information for better decision making, along with improved communication, greater regulatory compliance and a better customer experience.

Syngenta – Language Localization

At Syngenta, a global company in 90 countries, many Reliance users require localization of the QMS data in their local language. Generating translations and maintaining them across different regions could be challenging, yet Reliance’s localization functionality and out-of-the box language translations allowed Syngenta to automatically generate master localization files, as well as translate them through a Microsoft Azure translator. Today, the system is live with six languages across 3,000 users. Thanks to the system, there is less risk of errors because of language misinterpretations.

“We’re proud of Corning, Johnson & Johnson and Syngenta, as well as all of our customers – particularly as they have learned to adapt and succeed in a challenging environment during the past year,” said Robert Gremley, ETQ, CEO. “Our Innovation Awards 2021 recipients exemplify what’s possible when innovative companies, committed to continuous improvement and business excellence, harness the power, agility and scalability of our QMS to deliver real business value in new ways.”
