Today, Hexagon and ETQ announced the successful completion of ETQ’s acquisition by Hexagon, and we couldn’t be more excited! Hexagon and ETQ are a natural fit – from product and technology to employees, customers, and business opportunities. Both companies have roots in quality, and we share a vision to build the world’s leading technology stack to address quality, digital transformation and safety management business needs.

Building the world’s leading quality stack from shop floor to top floor

Hexagon acquired ETQ to build an integrated digital connection – connected quality — that bridges the data gap between product quality control (QC) and in-process quality assurance (QA). Further, we see multiple points of integration across all the industries we serve. Having partnered with Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division since October 2021, we’ve seen firsthand that ETQ Reliance is a natural fit with Hexagon solutions. ETQ’s deep expertise in quality management as well as our robust enterprise SaaS platform complements Hexagon’s digital reality solutions, combining sensor, software, and autonomous technologies.

Together we are putting data to work to enable autonomous, connected ecosystems that boost efficiency, productivity, and quality for our customers. Though still ETQ, we will now be a part of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. Manufacturing Intelligence provides solutions that use data from design and engineering, production, and metrology to make manufacturing smarter. We have already implemented an integration between Hexagon’s CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) systems and ETQ Reliance for our mutual customer, Wabtec. Our case study explains how the integration between quality control and quality management lessens the gap between the shop floor and the management processes that drive business leverage.

Together with Hexagon we will improve end-product quality, speed new product introduction, and make smart manufacturing a reality by:

  • Driving quality initiatives in manufacturing further upstream in design, engineering, and supply chain management processes to initiate a cycle of sustainable continuous improvement
  • Reducing waste, scrap, rework, warranty and recall costs
  • Minimizing risk in inferior product releases by automatically preventing product releases if issues are found
  • Shortening inventory cycles by automatically releasing products put on hold in production systems when the appropriate investigation and release phases have been completed
  • Seamlessly integrating with other enterprise business systems
  • Accelerating Industry 4.0 and digital transformation initiatives with connected quality

Our Bright Future

The acquisition brings a deep quality expertise across extensive industry verticals. The strength of integrating our two companies will be to provide new and existing customers with complementary quality expertise within discrete and process industries and to connect Hexagon and ETQ solutions to unlock additional value. Furthermore, Hexagon’s global reach and multi-national customer base will fuel compelling business expansion opportunities for ETQ, as part of Hexagon.

ETQ turns 30 this year — the timing of our new chapter with Hexagon could not be better! With Hexagon, ETQ customers and partners will see even greater innovation, adaptability, and growth. And our future together will be even more powerful.
