AWS Integrates Nvidia NVLink Fusion in Trainium4, Launches Trainium3 Servers

Amazon Web Services announced integration of Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion technology in its future Trainium4 AI chips to enable faster chip communication and larger server clusters while launching Trainium3-based servers containing 144 chips per unit. The new architecture aims to compete on performance and cost efficiency in the enterprise AI computing market.

The Trainium3 servers deliver over four times the computing power of the previous generation while consuming 40% less energy per operation. The NVLink Fusion integration will allow AWS to scale AI training workloads across more distributed computing resources with reduced latency between processing nodes.

General Motors Invests $550 Million in Michigan and Ohio Plants

General Motors announced a $550 million investment in component plants in Michigan and Ohio to support increased production of full-size SUVs and pickups beginning in 2027, allocating $300 million to Romulus Propulsion Systems for 10-speed transmission capacity and $250 million to Parma Metal Center for sheet metal stampings and assemblies. The investment supports vehicles including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Suburban and Tahoe and is expected to create 100 jobs at the Parma facility.

The component plant investments bring GM’s total 2025 U.S. manufacturing commitments to $5.5 billion, following a $4 billion announcement in June for Orion Assembly in Michigan, Fairfax Assembly in Kansas and Spring Hill Manufacturing in Tennessee. The Parma Metal Center produces over 100 million parts annually and processes more than 400 tons of steel daily, supplying components for GM-branded vehicles across North America.

Trane and Amazon Achieve 15% Energy Reductions with AI HVAC

Trane Technologies and Amazon partnered to deploy BrainBox AI autonomous HVAC optimization systems across Amazon Grocery fulfillment centers, achieving energy use reductions of nearly 15% while exceeding initial project targets by more than double and reducing carbon emissions and operational costs. The AI system operates without human intervention to continuously optimize heating and cooling operations across multiple facilities.

The deployment will expand to more than 30 U.S. fulfillment centers with pilot programs scheduled to begin in Amazon grocery store locations starting in 2026. The system analyzes real-time building data and weather patterns to make predictive adjustments to HVAC equipment, demonstrating the scalability of AI-driven building management across Amazon’s cold storage and temperature-controlled logistics infrastructure.

Panasonic Energy Supplies Lithium-Ion Batteries for Zoox Robotaxi Fleet

Panasonic Energy signed a multi-year agreement with Amazon-owned Zoox to supply 2170 cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells beginning in early 2026 to power the company’s autonomous robotaxi fleet as Zoox operates the first fully driverless ride-hailing service with purpose-built robotaxis. The cells offer superior energy density, safety and reliability for high-performance autonomous vehicle applications and will initially ship from Japan with planned expansion to Panasonic Energy’s Kansas manufacturing facility.

Panasonic Energy had supplied approximately 20 billion lithium-ion EV battery cells globally as of September 2025, equivalent to 4 million electric vehicles, without any vehicle recalls attributed to battery issues. The U.S. robotaxi market valued at approximately $0.45 billion in 2024 is projected to expand at over 70% CAGR through 2030, with global market forecasts exceeding $40-50 billion by 2030 as adoption accelerates in Phoenix, San Francisco and Las Vegas.
