EHS Leaders Complete On-time Audits, Increase Operating Margin, Improve Equipment Effectiveness

The report Environment Health and Safety: Going Beyond Compliance outlines the components of an effective EHS initiative within an organization and the supporting technology solutions that can lead an organization to compliance. The research results show that the Leaders are optimizing their maintenance, production, safety, and quality in order to meet safety and environmental goals and established protocols. Leaders also understand that an EHS program must be managed holistically, not in a siloed manner; therefore, Leaders are investing in training to increase awareness and get everyone involved with EHS initiatives. Aberdeen used the following four key performance criteria to distinguish the top performers from the rest of the industry. These leaders achieved the following results:

  • 97% audit action items completed on time
  • 0.3 recordable injury frequency rate
  • 12% increase in operating margin vs. corporate plan
  • 91% operational equipment effectiveness

Per the Aberdeen report, “the Leaders are 66% more likely than the Followers to automatically collect EHS data and store it in a central location. While many manufacturers are already tracking this data, it is often done in spreadsheets and done in an error prone way. In addition to this, the Leaders are almost twice as likely as their competitors to provide this data in both real-time and historical fashion.”
